Week Five: 8/18/08 - 8/22/08
On Monday of week 5 students mounted the mallards that were skinned and prepped last week.
In order to cover a variety of procedures, they used artificial heads for the mallards, as opposed to the real heads used last week on pheasants. Instructor then gave demonstrations on fish measuring, skinning, body carving, and fish mounting. Students followed by measuring, skinning, fleshing, & prepping their fish for mounting.
Next was the carving of fish bodies, fitting, mounting, and fin placement. (Fish will be painted next week after sufficient drying time.) On Friday morning, students worked on tweaking this week's projects, then spent the afternoon assembling their glass habitat cases.
